Trace the path from field equipment to the operator’s screen.
Start with the context
Record when the fault occurs, which functions are affected and what changed beforehand. Obtain permissions and backups before intervention.
Follow the dependencies
The chain may include field equipment, power, network, gateway, service, licence and graphic. Lost supervisory data alone does not prove controller failure.
Validate the correction
Define an observable test, coordinate with operations and record its result. For intermittent faults, agree a follow-up period and closeout criterion.
